The classic damsel’s in distress
- Snow White (and the seven dwarfs)- is a princess in blood.
- Cinderella 1/2/3- marries into the royal family.
- Little Mermaid- is a mermaid princess from birth and also marries into the royal.
- Beauty and the Beast- Belle marries prince Adam after he held her captive (Stockholm syndrome anybody?)
- Tangled- Rapunzel is born into the royal family but is stolen away until she returns to them on her 18th birthday.
- Sleeping Beauty- Aurora is royal by blood.
Exceptions to the rule:
These are classic princess’ we all know and love but there are some exceptions to the princess rule
- Pocahontas- Pocahontas is a chieftain’s daughter, which technically is princess status
- Moana- Moana is chieftain’s daughter too.
- Brave- Merida is born a princess to the clan Dunbroch but the reason she is an exception is due to the fact she is a Pixar creation not a Disney one.
- Frozen- Elsa is an exception to the rule due to the fact she is a Queen! Her coronation takes place in the film, thus she has a higher status than a princess but is still apart of the list.
- Aladdin- Technically he does marry into the royal family but becomes a prince. His princess is Jasmine, the daughter of a Sultan, but the movie is not named after her so I dub him a princess in his own right.
